APEX Performance announced that new trainer Amy Bair will be working with the Wounded Warrior Project in San Antonio. Before joining Apex, Amy was the Head of Performance Psychology and High Performance Communications at the University of California at Berkley. Amy is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and has her Masters in Counseling and Psychological Services.

Type O negative blood supply drops to critically low levels. The Red Cross is asking eligible blood donors to make and keep appointments. The supply of type O negative blood at the American Red Cross has dropped to critically low levels. Eligible blood donors can call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit to find a blood drive and to make an appointment.

June 24. Couples cooking class. 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Learn great recipes everyone can enjoy. Couples pricing is $25 members and $40 non-members. Registration is required.

June 28. Ask the Registered Dietitian. 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Ask a Registered Dietitian any questions you have about nutrition. No charge.

July 1. Fall Program Registration begins for YMCA Members. Programs registering include:  Sports, Dance, Art, Cooking, Kid’s Fitness, School-Age Clubs, Teen Programs and more. Non-member registration begins July 15.
July 1. Best Buy Teen Video Game Tournament. 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. On the first Friday of every month, visit the Rachel Giblin Teen Center for a Teen Video Game Tournament. $1 YMCA Members and $5 non-members.
4th of July Pool Party. 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Concessions will be available for purchase during pool parties.

Dogs/Cats for Adoption News

The PAWS in The Panhandle Rescue & Adoption Group Thrift Store is open in the Zimmer Business Park on Marvin Road in Indian Land. Directions: Turn onto Marvin Road directly in front of Aldi on Highway 521. In 7 tenths of a mile, turn left into Zimmer Business Park and follow road straight into the Park until you come to building 7 on your left. The facility is located at the end of building 7 in warehouse #737. Donations can be dropped off at the store or call (803) 371-0897 for pick-up. All donations are tax-deductible. Purchases help PAWS reach its goal of building a true “no-kill” shelter in Indian Land.
