Dilworth Coffee in Ballantyne Village is now Rush Espresso. Their website is under development but here’s the link.

New Kohl’s coming to Ballantyne area. Raley Miller has announced a Kohl’s will come to Marvin Town Center, opening in October 2011. The store will be 87,000 square feet. There is 14,000 of adjacent retail space available. For more information, call (704) 321-1000 or (704) 246-1477.

Allen Tate at Ballantyne announced that Jeffrey Austin and Alex Frelier have joined their Ballantyne office.

Sunday, March 20, South Mecklenburg Presbyterian Church welcomes Douglas W. Oldenburg, retired President of Columbia Theological Seminary in Atlanta and Moderator of the 210th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Dr. Oldenburg will present “Pulled Between Two Stories: Culture and Gospel” in the church’s chapel during the 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Sunday School hour. Ardrey Kell kicked off their registration for the inaugural Dance Marathon to benefit the Levine Children’s Hospital. March 19. Middle School Madness 7:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Event open for 6-8th graders.

April 2, 4, 5, Grade Fun Night at 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. No parents and no teachers…just fun with friends…everything from dancing to dodgeball and video games. $5 YMCA members and $7 non-members.

April 2. Infant/Child/Adult CPR, AED, and First Aid Classes. 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.. The YMCA now offers CPR and First Aid to YMCA members and the community. Cost is $70. Registration required.

April 3. 3 on 3 Streetball Tournament. Noon to 8:00 p.m. On the courts at Community House Middle School. Music, refs, concessions, and prizes. Two divisions…High school and Middle School. Cost is $40/Team.

April 4. Kids in the Kitchen—Eggscellent Creation 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Kids can get creative with us in the kitchen as we dye eggs for the upcoming holiday. Ages 8-14 years old. $20/YMCA members and $35/program members.

April 6. One Pot Wonders at 6:30-8:00 p.m. This cooking class will focus on one pot meals that will satisfy the hungriest of appetites! Cost is $25 YMCA members and $35 non members.

April 7. Lunch and Learn—Fuel Your Workouts at noon. Learn simple recipes and strategies to help you reach your workout goals. Free to the Community. Call (704) 716-4650 to reserve your space.

April 7 and 21. Open Mic Night at 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Rachel Giblin Teen Center will host an Open Mic Night series. Talk with the Teen Center staff to reserve your time slot. FREE for YMCA Members and a Guest Fee applies to non-members.

Dogs/Cats for Adoption News

The PAWS in The Panhandle Rescue & Adoption Group Thrift Store is open in the Zimmer Business Park on Marvin Road in Indian Land Directions: Turn onto Marvin Road directly in front of Aldi on Highway 521. In 7 tenths of a mile, turn left into Zimmer Business Park and follow road straight into the Park until you come to building 7 on your left. The facility is located at the end of building 7 in warehouse #737. Donations can be dropped off at the store or call (803) 371-0897 for pick-up. All donations are tax-deductible. Purchases help PAWS reach its goal of building a true “no-kill” shelter in Indian Land.
